some more photos

im on the look out for an amazing pair of heels that are comfortable. i am thinking i should just bite the bullet and buy some marni's. i hear they are ridiculously comfortable and they are so awesome looking. but i wear a size 41, so they seem really hard to find on sale. i guess i am going to have to ebay.
but i've been saving for a while...so i can get a really amazing pair of designer shoes, but i want to shop around. i know i want them to be platforms, b/c stiletto heels plus new york city equals probably the worst idea in the entire world. i really just need things to be comfortable and comfort is key. i also were a ton of vintage and i need a shoe that is modern but can go well with things. i guess any ole pair of shoes can go with whatever, it's a lot about color and shape. what i have in mind is this amazing art deco dress (see below) and i want a beautiful modern shoe to go with it. anywho...i've got time and i should shop around.
but comfort is way more important than anything. b/c i live in brooklyn and i need to stop taking cabs. a lot less.

i really love these shoes chloe shoes.

see you soon!
also what are y'alls opinions about shoes. comfy heels. is that even logical?

i've been shooting only film lately.

hey kids,
i've been hard at work with school. mainly just scanning negatives and spotting them, re-arranging all of my new orleans work into clusters so it flows better. but i took time out of my school schedule and interning at maxim to visit yale! and also, go shopping.
one of my dearest friends, hannah, goes to yale. i just can't say enough amazing things about her. she's so talented (she has a book of poetry out- you can buy it here- http://www.amazon.com/Circa-Hannah-Zeavin/dp/1934909092) and she is my style twin. we have very similar brains. i dunno, its hard having to describe someone you are incredibly close with online for those who have never met them. but i photographed her, b/c her style is so amazing and she is someone who i care about. i hope my portraits did her justice.
oh and i also went to yale to check out their MFA program for photography. it's my dream to go there. i'm going to move back to the south once i graduate, but just for a year, to build my portfolio for yale. i am pretty serious about this.

but onto the visual, less of the literary.
PHOTOS

ben (hannah's other half) pretending to be bob dylan and me outside of his apartment building in new haven.
i am wearing:
vintage hermes scarf as a head band (borrowed from my mommy)
pants- steven alan
socks- antipast
shoes- repetto
sweater- vintage
shirt- sunshine and shadow

hannah and ben (i know hannah is probably like great picture caroline but it shows off her outfit!!)
hannah
vintage blazer
vest from ireland when she was 8, i think
anti past tights (like mine)
prada skirt (she wore this to prom! what a great lady)
old repetto shoes
ray ban sunglasses

hannah's amazing hat! i took this after we made dinner, which was delicious. homemade mac and cheese, collared greens and hannah's amazing pie.

me in ben's apt (hannah stays over there a lot, b/c dorms are small and terrible, whereas ben's apt is happy and big)
rachel comey dress
vintage slip
american apparel leggings
topsop hat

i took a couple of pictures of hannah in ben's bathroom. she just looks so otherwordly, as if the 1930s were suddenly personified in today's times. i feel like people, when looking at her, can tell she is an artist or a writer, that she projects this mystique and knowledge. i have more images but i felt like this is the one i should upload to my blog. the other ones are slightly more explicit but there is also something child like and serenely beautiful and candid about this one. i like the color palette in the image as well as how i composed it.
then again, i'm biased.

i went home to houston....

and had myself a lil fashion shoot!

i actually went home over spring break to shoot my portrait project and what is becoming my thesis. i was working on a video documentary on new orleans debutantes but lo and behold, one william eggleston show at the whitney and i've realized that i want to photograph the south. i've actually know that i've wanted to do that for a while but it took seeing his (eggleston's) photographs to realize that is what i want to do. i am still working on my documentary but i dont really want my senior show to be that. i'll finish that for another class next semester i reckon.

anywho.

all taken with my mamiya 7 or rollei twin lens. (medium format film cameras)

long time no see

sooo
school has been quite intense! hence the lack of updates until now. in fact, i had just put this on the backburner. but now, im back!

so why has school been intense?
well, i've been working on my thesis. but caroline, you say, you're a junior! right you are, but there is no time like the present to start my senior thesis. and i kind of switched topics. i was working on a film documentary of new orleans's debutantes but now i am working on photographic images of the south and my family. i'll post my images soon.

im also in a rather intense but utterly fascinating class on children's cinema and my portrait class, which i can't rave about enough, is eating my time. but b/c i give these things my time, they grow into time eating monsters and just get rather large. but i like putting work into these things.

i also got an internship at Maxim. yes, the magazine with the near nude ladies in it. i rather enjoy it for these reasons a) i'm not a fan of the magazine so my hopes aren't dashed when it's not what i expected it to be, B) b/c i had no expectations, it ended up surpassing said expectations and C) i'm given actually photo work to do. find these images via stock agencies is way better than hey intern (note the no name) update this blog. or just sit there.
its fun and i work for the photo dept and its full of rather cool ladies.

so this is a picture of me and some classmates

the cute asian girl is esther. who dresses very well. and the other lovely lady named marissa. she is doing this awesome project on old women in new jersey. quite cool.
this was a flash exercise. so we took a vivatar flash and bounced it off the ceiling and then the whiteboard. i think this is bounced off the ceiling.
what i'm wearing
a delias sweater
a marc by marc jacobs shirt
a marni skirt
3.1 phillip lim belt
american apparel tights
jeremy campbell shoes (oxford style)

more to come soon! we just had spring break and i held some fashion shoots.
oh yeah.

it's been a crazy month.
got back from the london, went to NYC for two days, then houston for four days, then new orleans for liek a week, back to houston, back to new orleans and am still in new orleans until dec 30th.
see....i'm working on my senior thesis right now (yes yes i am still a junior). i am making a video documentary about southern debutantes. i am also making my new orleans debut, hence why i've been so scattered and not updating!
but happy xmas to all.
my gifts were being able to debut and then i got a lot of mayle clothing!! yay.

but here are some clothes i've been wearing.
the weather here has been crazy. 30 one day but 80 0r 70 degrees for the rest of the time.

long time no update

so finals have descended and are over ish tomorrow. my portfolio is done, my paper is being revised, so i've come out of the hole that was intense work.

anywho, prague was lovely! i spent my twenty first birthday there and just hung out.
here are some photos!
we went out, i got wasted on my birthday (a rite of passage). met a cute boy, took some pictures for my final and did some amazing vintage shopping. prague was beautiful and i found myself wishing i had done study abroad there instead... not that london hasn't been great but two of my good friends were in prague. oh well, i had a wonderful time in london and in prague! now im just gearing up to head back to nyc in 9 DAYS!!

also. this is what i've been wearing during finals. its either cheap monday jeans, an APC sweater, red keds or this little outfit. its all about comfort and the fact that sleep is really just for the lucky.
